Redfoot Tortoise Jumbo hatchlings (Chelonoidis carbonaria)

The Redfoot tortoise is native to areas of Central America and northern South America where it lives in tropical grasslands and forest edges of the Amazon Basin.  The Florida climate, where we keep our breeders and their captive bred offspring, provides a good substitute environment for these tortoises. As they are also quite adaptable to varying climate conditions, they can be maintained in more northern areas but will need to be kept inside a heated area during winter or other cold periods (e.g., temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit). With their attractive appearance, typical full size of about 12-14 inches, and ease of care, these are our most popular tortoise choice. When properly cared for, they will provide a lifetime of enjoyment.

Our Redfoot breeders openly graze for much of their dietary needs. This is augmented with fresh greens, succulent plants, Opuntia Cactus, and various fruits (e.g., bananas and mangos). Adults also receive a small amount of protein (commercially packaged turtle food such as Mazuri chow, broken down with water) to augment their predominantly vegetable diet. Hatchlings are fed similarly with very little or no protein.

I ordered a redfoot tortoise jumbo hatchling from Bill to add to my colony. The customer service was great! I had several questions about sizes/sex and Bill promptly emailed me with all the answers. He was able to hand pick the hatchling that best fit what I was looking for and she was sent to me the next business day. She arrived healthy and gorgeous! The hatchling is alert, active, and curious. She even ate as soon as she was placed in her new enclosure. I will definitely be purchasing from Redfoot Ranch again and would recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a healthy, beautiful tortoise.

Redfoot Ranch is Amazing! Bill helped us choose the right tort and size for our family. He also made sure we knew how to care properly for her. I never expected to adore a tortoise as much as I do our girl (we believe she is a she lol) . She eats from our hand, and comes when she hears us talking. She is so social from the day we got her and that speaks VOLUMES to the care and socializing she received from Bill at his ranch! Within a few days we were already inquiring about another addition! Our Redfoot is Vibrant, Healthy, Extremely social and a great addition to our family!

I don't have a review to add, but I'm looking for four of these little fellas to add to the two I currently have. From what I'm reading, this is the place to get them from.
