Mata Mata Turtle (Chelus fimbriata)
Mata mata are some of the most unique looking turtles in the world. These turtles are carnivorous feeding on fish and invertebrates. As adults they will attain a large size of 18” and 30+ pounds. Similar to snapping turtles, these are very sedentary turtles that use camouflage to lay in wait until prey swims along. They are native to South America.
